Washington State Law, (RCW 28A.210.320) mandates that students with life-threatening health conditions have a medication and/or treatment orders and a health plan in place in order to attend school. The law defines a “life-threatening condition” as a “health condition that will put the child in danger of death during the school day if a medication or treatment order and a nursing plan are not in place”. This includes, but is not limited to, severe allergies, seizure disorders and diabetes. School nurses will work with families to create an emergency care plan for each student with a life-threatening condition.

If your child has a life-threatening condition, please contact your school nurse through the school’s main office to ensure you have all of the required paperwork and medications necessary to keep your child safe during the school day. All forms and medications must be provided to your child’s school before the first day of attendance.
